Established in 1968, Tolly's was the vision of Carol and Terry Tollefson. A place where they could express themselves by sharing their love for Antiques and their passion for creating great food. Initially, the first antique store in Oakland soon became a restaurant/antique store when they decided to purchase the soda fountain from their dear friends, Don and Erma Mode. With the help of another local craftsman, Claude Green, Terry created arches connecting the two buildings. Later the two men used local oak to create the beautiful woodwork and staircase.
Terry and Carol raised their three sons, Brad, Mark, and Paul, in Oakland, each working for the family throughout their childhood and as young adults. The restaurant became the pride of Oakland, providing a meeting place for locals and travelers alike. After 40 years of owning and managing an Oregon Landmark, Carol and Terry decided to retire and sold the restaurant in 2008.
In 2018, Paul and Abby Tollefson (along with their three children) made a decision to bring the restaurant back to the family and continue the legacy of the original Tolly's. We share this 50th anniversary with all of our friends, family, exceptional past employees, extended family, and amazing customers. May Tolly's forever be a place "where sodas flow and friendships grow."
